Robert Morris guard Michael Green III passed the 1,000-point plateau Saturday night against Marshall. Green connected on a three-point shot in the first half to reach the milestone. Green entered the game one-point shy of the benchmark.

“Mike has been a mainstay in our lineup,” head coach Andy Toole said. “Getting 1,000 points in college is not easy to do. He’s done it while he’s organized our team and not only made plays for himself but made plays for others. It’s a great accomplishment for him.”

Green scored 11 points in 26 minutes off the bench for the Colonials in a 69-60 loss to the Thundering Herd. The senior guard transferred to RMU following two seasons at Bryant, playing against the Colonials during the 2019-20 campaign in the Northeast Conference. RMU transitioned to the Horizon League the following year.

Hailing from Bronx, New York, he was named the 2020 NEC Rookie of the Year at Bryant while being named to the 2020 All-Northeast Conference Rookie Team. The four-year high school starter at Mount St. Michael Academy averaged 9.3 points as a freshman in 32 games and broke out his sophomore year, averaging 16 points and starting all 21 games. Green responded the next season by earning 2021 All-Conference Second Team honors.

The 5-foot-11 ballhandler started 24 of the 29 games he appeared in during his debut season as a Colonial, averaging 10.4 points, 3.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. His best game in an RMU uniform to date was a 21-point performance against Green Bay on Jan. 29, 2022.

This season, Green started the final two games of the Hostilo Hoops Community Classic in Savannah, Georgia following a season-high 19 points against Mercer off the bench. In eight games, Green is averaging 8.3 points, 5.6 assists, and 1.6 steals. He totaled 302 points in his junior campaign and 75 so far in his senior year to reach 1,000.
