On Wednesday night, Duquesne earned a big win over DePaul behind solid performances from Dae Dae Grant and Joe Reece at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse, winning 66-55.
Grant scored 15 points, hitting six of his 14 field-goal attempts in the victory. In his third game back from an ankle injury, Reece gave the Dukes all he could in a tremendous interior effort, posting a 15-point, six-rebound night and hitting 50% of his field goals.

Jimmy Clark III also added 13 points and eight rebounds in the win to help the Dukes get to 8-3 on the year.
The Dukes led from the start. taking a 13-point lead into halftime and turning strong defense into offense to come home with the win. The Dukes held three of DePaul’s starting guards — Zion Cruz, Umoja Gibson, and Philmon Gebrewhit — to a combined 1-for-17 night and just three points between the trio. The Blue Demons were led by Javan Johnson, who hit six of his 12 attempts en route to 19 points on the night.
With the win, Duquesne snaps a two-game losing streak and gets back in the win column ahead of this Saturday’s contest against Indiana State (2 p.m.).
“We spent two days after the last game — I have never worked a team in my years of coaching harder than I did after the last game,” Dambrot said. “Give our guys credit, because we didn’t really play well our last game.”
When will DePaul become a big time mbb school. There is a world of talent in Chicago that never seems to go there. Duquesne is having a good season but DePaul should easily beat them annually.
Creighton learned the puzzle and they’re in Omaha, not exactly a hotbed for youth mbb.

injured in last game.
INJURED!!
Best team in the City.
Good win. If these kids stick around, Dukes got something to look forward to. Barre and Dixon could be monsters in the A10. McGriff and Rozier are good players too. Maybe DU needs to be getting these kids some NIL money, Bordas and Bordas could use another commercial. 🙂
