Pitt Senior Guard Marcus Minor Intends To Play In Sun Bowl

Good news for Pitt quarterback Nick Patti as it appears he’ll be playing behind everyone one of the starting offensive linemen in the Sun Bowl.

Today, starting left guard, who’s been the most reliable and arguably Pitt’s best offensive lineman this season, announced today that he will play in the upcoming bowl game and won’t be sitting it out.

“I first want to thank God for the blessing and opportunities I have received through this game that I play, without him, I would not be where I am today. To my family, thank you for all of the support and sacrifices you all made to help get me to this point. I am forever thankful and aim to make you all proud.

To Coach Borbs, Coach Narduzzi, and the staff, thank you for allowing me to come to this prestigious program where I have grown as a player and leader while earning my master’s degree.

To my teammates, thank you for accepting me into this brotherhood, through the blood, sweat and tears, we put into this game from the hard days at camp, the laughable moments, winning a championship, and even the adversity we overcame together, I’m so thankful for every moment we created. I was able to create relationships that will last a lifetime and hope for nothing but success and blessings as we go our separate ways.

To the fans, thank you for supporting the team and me by impacting our games every Saturday.

With that being said, I am excited to announce that I will be chasing my childhood dream and declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft. Before I depart, I have unfinished business. I look forward to playing my last Pitt game in the Sun Bowl. See you in El Paso! Thank you, Pittsburgh. Forever a Pitt Man.”

After transferring to Pitt last year from Maryland, the former 4-star recruit went on to start 25 games the last two seasons at left guard and capped it off his senior season by earning first-team All-ACC honors this season.

While starting left tackle Carter Warren won’t be available due to injury, Minor, Owen Drexel, Jake Kradel and Matt Goncalves will all be suiting up against UCLA. Last week, right tackle Gabe Houy announced that he will not be participating in the game and will be preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft.
