Heading into the Holidays, the Pitt men’s basketball program looks much different than it did at this time last year.
Jeff Capel’s squad sits at 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the ACC, compared to 5-7 last season heading into the holiday break.
In addition to the strong start to the season by returning guard Jamarius Burton, the Panthers have looked to three transfers for lots of offensive help: Blake Hinson, Nelly Cummings, and Greg Elliott. On top of the transfer production, the inside presence of former JuCo big Federiko Federiko has been another big story for Pitt.
Blake Hinson (team leader with 17 points, 7 rebounds per game)
Federiko Federiko (7 starts, 3 gms with 13+ points)
Jamarius Burton (leading ACC guards at 54% FG), averaging career-high 14 ppg
Greg Elliott (11.1 ppg, shooting 41% from three)
Nelly Cummings (11 ppg, 4.7 apg, 18+ pts in 3 of last four gms)

Burtons’ slash is 14 ppg, 5 apg & 5 rpg. Plus he’s most importantly the glue man,
I like Henson, but Burton is the glue.
