PITTSBURGH — Pitt junior forward John Hugley is sitting on the bench dressed in street clothes ahead of the matchup against North Carolina at noon on Friday.
Hugley missed the last two games against North Florida on Dec. 17 and Syracuse on Dec. 20 as well. He missed the North Florida for “personal reasons” and this will make it the third straight game he will not play in.
He did not play in the first two games of the season against UT Martin on Nov. 7 and WVU on Nov. 11 after injuring his knee in practice in early October.
Hugley has played in eight games this season with six starts, averaging eight points and six rebounds in those contests.
Junior forward Blake Hinson and sophomore center Federiko Federiko will play much of the defense down in the paint to make up for Hugley’s absence.
Would love to know what they are hiding. Is he ill and they do not want say what it is? Are there issues with academics and grades? It makes no sense and in a game like this he could be a difference maker going against UNC and their big man Bacot.
I wish nothing but the best for this man….that being said, this program always has something fishy or something comes up where they are missing player after player for some reason. Never seen anything like it. It’s just frustrating.
Overrated. Won’t be missed much.
My speculation is there’s an attitude problem and Capel is showing tough love.
