Back in November, Pitt officially signed three recruits to its prized 2023 class: Jaland Lowe, Carlton Carrington, and Marlon Barnes.
Lowe (Houston, TX) is the highest ranked of the bunch, coming in as a four-star point guard ranked in the top-75 in the country, per 247 Sports. Carrington, out of Baltimore, is ranked as the No. 102 player in the country, and is also a four star. Barnes, out of Cleveland, is ranked in the top-200 in the class.
All three of the Panthers’ signees have shined so far throughout their respective senior seasons, and as of late, all three have been garnering national attention with their performances.
Let’s start with Lowe.
The 6-foot-1 floor general dropped 43 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in an overtime effort on Thursday in the Whataburger Holiday Tournament down in Texas. Prior to that 43-point outburst, the senior was averaging 32 points per game in the prestigious tournament.
Now onto Carrington. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard has been on a tear in recent weeks, headlined by a 36-point outburst on Wednesday. Carrington also scored 28 points in his first league game back in early December and followed it up with a 29-point showing in a game in Los Angeles against national competition.
Last but not least, Barnes, the first commitment of the bunch, scored 13 points in a recent matchup against Saint Edwards. The Cleveland native threw down a loud slam on a fastbreak and showcased his outside shooting ability in the game.
Looks like a good class. Expect another name or two to be added through portal or recruiting. Will be needed to fill some spots as current guys graduate and move on. H2P !
who is out of eligibility at the end of the season .. presumably Burton, Cummings and Elliot ? What about Nike .. does he have another year/covid year left ?
It’s last year for Nike, Burton, Cummings and Elliott
What is wrong with John Hugley? I hope it is nothing serious, but I hoped that he would play against North Carolina. Will he miss the season?
No
