Former Pitt safety Damar Hamlin.

The NFL community — and really the entire sporting world — expressed its love and support for Damar Hamlin after he suffered a cardiac arrest during Monday Night Football.

Hamlin is still in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, but his family expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support that Hamlin has received since last night via a statement released by Hamlin’s representative Jordon Rooney.

“On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from around the country.”

“We also want to acknowledge the dedicated first responders and healthcare professionals are the University of Cincinnati Medical Center who have provided exceptional care to Damar. We feel so blessed to be a part of the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support. We also want to thank coach Taylor and the Bengals for everything they’ve done.”

“Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us.”

“Please keep Damar in your prayers. We will release updates as soon as we have them.”

Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation has raised nearly $4 million dollars since last night, with nearly 150,000 people contributing to the toy drive fundraiser.

Hamlin’s status at the UC Medical Center will be updated as more information is released.
