Pitt has won 10 of its last 12 games after starting 1-3 and people across the country are continuing to take notice in the team’s rise.
Michael DeCourcy of Fox Sports placed the Panthers as a No. 10 seed in his bracketology on Tuesday. DeCourcy has the Panthers facing off against No. 7 Rutgers out of the Big Ten in the South Region.
Pitt has featured in other brackets more recently due to their great play over the last 12 games. This also includes a 4-1 start in ACC play, with wins over then ranked No. 25 UNC on Dec. 30 and then ranked No. 11 Virginia on Jan. 3.
DeCourcy put the Panthers in his “Next Four Out” section in his bracket on Dec. 27, national analyst Andy Katz put Pitt in his top 30 teams on Jan. 2 and Joe Lunardi of ESPN put Pitt as a No. 11 seed in his bracket on Jan. 6.
There are eight other ACC Schools that feature in this bracket, which are No. 4 Virginia, No. 4 Miami, No. 5 Duke, No. 6 North Carolina, No. 9 Clemson, No. 10 NC State, No. 11 Wake Forest and No. 11 Virginia Tech.
DeCourcy place nine ACC teams in his bracket, the most of any conference. The Big Ten finished in second place with eight teams, the SEC and Big 12 have seven teams each, and the Pac-12 and the Big East have four teams in.
The No. 10 seed for Pitt is the highest a bracketologist has placed them so far.
Pitt takes on No. 24 ranked Duke Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C. The ACC Network will be broadcasting the big-time matchup, as Pitt starts a three game road trip, that features games at Georgia Tech on Saturday, Jan. 14 and Louisville next Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Absolutely meaningless.
Too soon to be concerned about MM. Need to stay focused on the next game. Like football should try to maintain 1-0 each week.
