Nike Sibande powered the Panthers’ offense in the first half, splashing home triple after triple. The redshirt senior guard reached 12 points on four consecutive three-point field goals. He has scored in double figures three games in a row and four of his last five appearances.
The Panthers (13-6, 6-2 ACC) have now won two in a row and dominated Louisville (2-17, 0-8 ACC) as the Cardinals ran their losing streak to eight straight in a 75-54 finish.
In the midst of a 17-2 run, Sibande helped Pitt gain a double-digit lead on the Cardinals and set the tone of the evening ahead. Louisville head coach Kenny Payne yelled at his players to close out on a Pitt player’s three-point attempts to prevent further damage. The ball still found the bottom of the basket for Nike.
Sibande responded on Twitter, saying “Lol It’s all (love) coach!”
Sibande suffered a torn ACL in Pitt’s exhibition win over Gannon last season to begin the year. The 6-foot-4 guard is averaging 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 21 minutes per game, shooting 40% from the field.
LOVED the response from Nike.
No class.
Troll booth is open for business. That is a good self analysis Ratich.
Honestly, I think the Louisville coach loved it. He has been telling his players they need to close out harder and faster all year. Now he can say to his team “look, I am not just the only one saying it. Other teams are saying it to you as well!” Kenny Payne will turn this into a teaching moment for his team. I think he was grateful to Nike for doing that. That is what it sounded like when I heard him talk about it at least.
And I love Nike saying that too 🙂
The classless big mouth went 1-6 today for 4 points. Talk shit when you’re a star not a 7 ppg 6th year senior. A Coach with class would have sat him but we have Capel
