Pitt Has Major Opportunity Against North Carolina Wednesday Night

Published

on

Pitt has a major challenge ahead of itself on Wednesday night: beating North Carolina for the second time this season.

The Panthers have proven they can win on the road, as they are currently 5-2 in true road games. They have proven they can take down the ACC’s top-tier teams, beating Virginia, UNC, and Miami. However, beating a team twice is different, and will surely be a challenge for the Panthers on the road against the red-hot Tar Heels.

Wednesday night’s game is a major opportunity for the Panthers, not just because of the fact that it would be the Panthers’ second win over Hubert Davis’ squad.

Pitt is currently 3-2 in Quad 1 games this season. A road game against North Carolina (NET No. 37) qualifies as a Quad 1 contest. After this, the Panthers face only two more teams in the top-60 in NET, with both coming on the road (Virginia Tech and Miami). All three of those are tremendous opportunities for the Panthers and will be very valuable come Selection Sunday.

Not a lot of challenging games left after UNC. Need to rack up some wins down the stretch.

Miami will be seeking revenge. Syracuse is always a tough one, no matter what. Other than that, they’re all traps.
