Pitt has made the initial cut for 2024 3-star defensive end Makai Byerson.
The 6’5″, 220-pound defensive end from Manchester High School in Midlothian, Virginia listed a Top 8 of Pitt, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Kentucky, Rutgers, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
“Pitt is a great school and I feel like every time I have a conversation with Coach Powell, he keeps everything real,” Byerson tells Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I just like the programs goals and how they are trying to accomplish those goals.”
Byerson is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 35 junior strongside defensive end in the nation and one of the Top 15 overall recruits in Virginia.
Byerson tells PSN that he’s looking forward to making his first visit to Pitt and wants to visit every school in his top eight, along with additional visits to Florida State and Auburn.
Earlier this week, Pitt made the top 4 of another top recruit from Virginia, 2024 4-star wide receiver Keylen Adams.
