PITTSBURGH — Magical moments have occurred at the Petersen Events Center throughout the Panthers’ breakout season. Another happened late Tuesday night, this time by a member of the Oakland Zoo.
Junior student Richie Ferris connected on a halftime contest to win a one-year apartment lease. Far from an easy task, Ferris needed to make a shot from one spot on the floor into both baskets.
Ferris, from Pittsburgh, shot his first attempt close to the three-point line near the Zoo and banked it in. From the same spot, he chucked the basketball perfectly into the opposite basket and splashed through the hoop to win an incredible prize. Ferris is also a member of the Pitt club baseball team.
YEAH RICHIE!!
From one member of the Benedum 12th floor club (ChemE’74) to another “CONGRATULATIONS “. Been following Pitt mbb for over 50-years and seen a successful 3/4 court shot one other time.
Fitzgerald Field House, 1988. Somebody won a Cadillac, if I’m not mistaken. I remember that because I think that was the final game I attended as a student.
Is that what you remember?
