Vegas’ Least Favorite Team: Pitt Remains Best Team in the Country Against the Spread

Published

on

Pitt fans have enjoyed the program’s best season since 2016 this year, watching the Panthers start off the season 19-8 and 12-4 in ACC play.

While those records have the team and its fans looking towards the NCAA Tournament, there is one record that has made a certain group of fans particularly happy (and some rich): 19-7-1.

The Panthers are currently 19-7-1 against the spread, good for the No. 1 ranking in the entire country in ATS record. Pitt has a remarkable 9-1-1 record ATS on the road, and a solid 10-6 ATS record at home.

Prior to its loss at Virginia Tech (the Hokies were 5.5-point favorites), Pitt had covered five-straight games, including a 15.5-point cover against Louisville (Pitt won by 34).

The over has cashed in 16 times in Pitt’s games this year, compared to the under which has cashed just 11 times.

While Virginia leads the ACC in actual winning percentage, the Cavaliers have not been consistent in the eyes of bettors, as they are 10-14 ATS this season. Miami, the ACC’s current second-place team, holds an impressive 17-10 record against the spread this season.

On Tuesday night, the Panthers will take on Georgia Tech in their quest to become the first team in America to cover the spread 20 times this season.

Now with all the betting money involved legally, you have to question point shaving by players.

That might be offset by some of these NIL deals. I’m hopeful.
