PITTSBURGH — Pitt is officially back in the NCAA Tournament.

On Sunday night, the Panthers were included in this year’s field of 68 as a No. 11 seed in the Midwest region. Pitt will play against Mississippi State in the first four in Dayton, with the winner going to Greensboro to take on 6-seed Iowa State.

Pitt finished the regular season and ACC Tournament with a 22-11 record, falling in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament this week to Duke.

The Panthers went 14-3 at home, 7-5 on the road, and 1-3 on neutral courts. Pitt went 4-4 in Quad One games, 3-5 in Quad Two games, 5-1 in Quad 3 games, and 10-1 in Quad Four games. The Panthers currently rank No. 67 in the NCAA’s NET rankings.

Now, the debate has been settled. Pitt, widely known as a “bubble team” this year, has officially made the tournament and will be heading to Dayton for its first game.
