Pitt’s first NCAA Tournament game in seven years was a memorable one, and the Panthers showed the nation that they were indeed a tournament team.
Despite not having their starting center due to an injury and their first-team All-ACC player who was in foul trouble for most of the game, Pitt hung in there with a tough, physical Mississippi State team and made all the clutch plays down the stretch to pull out a 60-59 win.
Pitt’s senior class of Greg Elliott, Nike Sibande, Nelly Cummings and Jamarius Burton were clutch as Pitt wins their first tournament game since 2013-14.
Next up, Iowa State on Friday!
