With 10 seconds remaining, the graduate student connected on an off-balanced floater to put Pitt ahead 60-59 in what became the game-winning basketball to advance past Mississippi State in the First Four.
Burton dealt with foul trouble and played with four down the stretch. He finished with six points, three assists, and three rebounds. The Panthers advance to play in the Round of 64 for the first time since 2016.
