Duquesne Contacts St. Francis Transfer Guard Landon Moore and Pitt Transfer John Hugley

The Duquesne Dukes are doing their due diligence in shopping through the transfer portal.

A source tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that the Duquesne coaching staff have reached out to at least 50 players that have entered the transfer portal this week. Keith Dambrot’s thinking with this likely is that he feels they need to cover all the bases, with some players obviously being more realistic than others.

Earlier today, we told you about the Dukes contacting Pepperdine guard Mike Mitchell, Jr. and now we have a couple more names for you.

The first name is someone that Duquesne fans are likely familiar with.

Although this one probably falls under the not likely because of the NIL compensation required to have a shot, Duquesne is one of many teams to reach out to Pitt transfer center John Hugley. The Cleveland, Ohio native announced his decision to leave Pitt on Tuesday. Hugley hasn’t played most of the season due to off the court issues.

Not surprisingly, Hugley has been a popular player as Joe Tipton reports that he’s received early interest from Michigan, Oregon, Miami, Rutgers, Xavier, Arkansas, LSU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, West Virginia, Maryland, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Central Florida, Wisconsin, Butler, Dayton, Ohio, Arizona State, Georgia, Oakland and Cleveland State.

PSN has also learned that Duquesne has reached out to St. Francis (PA) transfer guard Landon Moore.

The 6’3″, 200-pound freshman guard averaged 13.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 30.7 minutes per game. Moore played in only 19 games after breaking his hand four games into the conference season for St. Francis. Moore was able to return for the NEC conference tournament.

Duquesne will be looking for a guard in the portal to replace Tevin Brewer.

Not sure what Hughley’s plans are but I am assuming he wants to start over somewhere fresh .. it may not just be about Pitt, it is moving on from the city of Pittsburgh too.
