Duquesne Reaches Out To Boise Center Transfer Center Burke Smith

The Duquesne Dukes are among a list of teams that have reached out to Boise State center Burke Smith.

In two seasons with Boise State, Smith hasn’t received much playing time, but the potential is certainly there. This past season, Smith played in just 10 games and averaged just 3.4 minutes per game.

Smith is 6’11”, 230-pounds and is originally from Glen Allen, Virginia. Coming out of Trinity Episcopal High School, Smith was a 3-star recruit as he led his team to a 104-18 record and four Virginia Prep League titles during his career. As a senior, Smith averaged 14.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.2 blocks per game. Despite his size, Smith shot 37.6% from 3-point range and was one of the top shooting big men in Virginia.

The Dukes will be losing size in their front court with the graduation of Austin Rotroff and Joe Reece, so Keith Dambrot will be looking to add some size to his 2023-24 roster.

Duquesne's 2024 March Madness Tournament coverage is sponsored by Leon's Billiards & More, Moon Golf Club and Archie's on Carson! Their contributions have allowed us to cover the Dukes run in Omaha, Nebraska. We appreciate their support!

Other schools that have also reportedly reached out to Smith include Michigan State, Richmond, Princeton, Florida Atlantic, Wyoming, Tulsa, East Carolina, Montana State and Florida Gulf Coast.
