A source told PGH Sports Now that West Virginia plans to host Pitt transfer John Hugley from April 21-23 for a visit. Hugley entered the transfer portal in March and WVU made contact within days.

Hugley (6-foot-9) is coming off his third season suiting up for the Panthers. The Cleveland native dealt with injuries throughout this season, eventually being ruled out in January. Hugley averaged 8.0 points and 3.6 rebounds in just eight games.

Hugley showed his full potential during the 2021-22 season, averaging 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds on 48 percent shooting.

The former Pitt big was recruited as a top-100 prospect and rated a 4-star by 247 Sports. West Virginia was one of Hugley’s finalists back in 2019.

West Virginia has hosted one transfer portal recruit so far in Arizona transfer guard Kerr Kriisa. Kriisa visited WVU from March 25-27 and is still undecided.
