Over the weekend, High Point transfer Zack Austin took his first visit of the transfer season to Pitt, visiting the Panthers’ facilities and touring the city with the basketball staff.
Take a look at Austin’s photos from his visit.
Austin played two seasons with High Point and redshirted his first season there. As a redshirt freshman, Austin averaged 14.4 points, eight rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game, hitting 67 of his 208 three-point attempts (32%). With those numbers, he made the Big South All-Freshman Team.
This year, Austin scored 14.1 points and grabbed 5.4 rebounds per contest. He started 26 of 31 games and improved his shooting numbers in each category. Austin shot 44% from the field (41 as a freshman), 56% on two-point attempts (51 as a freshman), 33% on three-point tries (32 as a freshman), and 79% from the free-throw line (72 as a freshman).
The Panthers are looking to fill four open scholarships after wing Nate Santos entered the transfer portal on Tuesday. The team’s front court currently consists of Jorge Diaz-Graham, Guillermo Diaz-Graham, and Federiko Federiko, with Blake Hinson, William Jeffress, and freshman Marlon Barnes on the wing and Dior Johnson in the back court. The Panthers will also welcome in freshmen guards Jaland Lowe and Carlton Carrington this season.
