Emmett Laws cut his list of offers in half earlier this month, including Georgia Tech, Maryland, Penn State, Pitt and Virginia Tech, and he’s making his commitment soon.

Laws — a 6-foot-2, 260-pound three-star defensive lineman from DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland — will announced his commitment on Tuesday, April 25, he confirmed on Twitter.

After a recent visit to Pittsburgh for a spring practice, receiving his official offer from Charlie Partridge a few days after the visit, Pitt is in good standing with Laws.

“That offer means the world to me, ” Laws told PSN. “Man, Pitt is D-Line University. They know how to produce defensive linemen and get them to the next level.

“I got the chance to talk with Coach Partridge one-on-one, and I just felt how genuine he was and how good of a person and a coach he is. In our conversation, he even taught me something new that I will be able to use. I didn’t even that you can reach as a defensive tackle. I learned something new.”

Laws, like many successful Pitt defensive lineman, is quick off the snap and extremely twitchy. He isn’t the tallest lineman, but he’s certainly well-built and disruptive.

247Sports rates Laws as the 775th-ranked recruit in the class (79th-ranked defensive lineman and the 19th-ranked recruit from Maryland) while On3 rates him as the 708th-ranked recruit in the class (69th-ranjed defensive lineman and the 19th-ranked recruit from Maryland).

Rivals is even higher on Laws, rating him as the 19th-ranked defensive tackle and the 16th-ranked recruit from Maryland — holding a 5.7 Rivals Rating.

Pitt has loaded up on defensive lineman early in the class of 2024, highlighted by four-star defensive lineman Jahsear Whittington, and including three-stars in Francis Brewu, Zachary Crothers and Ty Yuhas.
