On Friday, Pitt basketball’s leading scorer Blake Hinson announced that he will be testing the 2023 NBA Draft process while retaining his college eligibility.
Hinson, who led the team with 15.3 points per game this past season, released a note on social media with his announcement which seemed to confirm that if he does not follow through with the Draft process, he will be returning to Pitt.
“I love the game of basketball and am constantly looking for opportunities to measure myself against top competition,” Hinson said. “By entering the NBA early entry draft process while retaining my eligibility to return to Pitt for my senior season, I can further test myself and receive additional feedback that will ultimately help make me a better player. I am excited about this opportunity and grateful for the support of Coach Capel and the Pitt basketball family.”
Hinson has until May 31 to remove his name from NBA Draft consideration. Before playing for Pitt this past year, Hinson spent two years with Ole Miss and also spent time with the Iowa State program. After spending two seasons away from game action, he jumped into a massive role for the Panthers in their best season under Jeff Capel.
