ACC News and Notes: Virginia Forward Kadin Shedrick to Texas, NC State, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Boston College

PITTSBURGH – ACC news throughout the weekend was highlighted by Kadin Shedrick committing to a prominent Big 12 program. NC State, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Boston College players also made headlines.

Virginia Forward Kadin Shedrick Commits to Texas

Kadin Shedrick has officially selected his next collegiate destination. According to Joe Tipton of On3, Shedrick has committed to Texas. He was supposed to visit Duke at the end of the month and also had conversations with Missouri and Xavier before landing in the Longhorn State. The 6-foot-11 redshirt junior averaged 6.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 30 games (15 starts). He shot 64.7% from the floor but struggled behind the arc (20%).

Texas advanced to the Elite Eight and lost to Miami with a trip to the Final Four on the line. The program took the interim tag off of Rodney Terry and agreed to a five-year deal.

NC State’s Dusan Mahorcic Enters Transfer Portal

Dusan Mahorcic will change teams again after gaining an additional year of eligibility. Set to play a sixth year, Mahorcic previously suited up for Illinois State and Utah before landing at NC State, and will now transfer again. According to Portal Updates, Mahorcic has entered the transfer portal. He started nine of 10 games for the Wolfpack and averaged 8.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in nearly 21 minutes per game. 

Florida State’s Matthew Cleveland Down to Three Potential Schools

Former Florida State guard Matthew Cleveland has cut his list of potential schools to three. CBS Sports insider Jon Rothstein reported over the weekend that Cleveland will commit to Auburn, Missouri, or Miami. Cleveland averaged 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting 44.5% from the floor in 30 games. Cleveland made one of the biggest shots of the year against Miami to come back from an over 20-point deficit to defeat the Hurricanes late in the season.

Cleveland, 6-foot-7, also scored in double figures (11.5) during his freshman season and started all 30 games for the Seminoles during the 2022-23 campaign. The Seminoles ended the year 9-23 overall and 7-13 in conference play. Miami reached the Final Four and lost to eventual National Champion UConn.

West Carolina Forward Tyzhaun Claude Transfers to Georgia Tech

Former Western Carolina forward Tyzhaun Claude has officially transferred to Georgia Tech, according to Verbal Commits. Claude played two seasons at Morehead State before joining Western Carolina. During his junior season, Claude started 28 of 31 games and averaged 15.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

He shot 52% from the floor and was one of the most effective players on the floor for West Carolina. Georgia Tech lost numerous players to the transfer portal after firing head coach Josh Pastner.

Boston College Forward T.J. Bickerstaff Commits to James Madison

Following two seasons at Boston College, T.J. Bickerstaff has found a new program to close his college career. The 6-foot-9 senior has committed to join James Madison, according to Verbal Commits. Before transferring to BC, Bickerstaff started 20 games for Drexel during the 2020-21 season. He averaged 5.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in over 21 minutes per contest, spanning 60 games. 

Bickerstaff’s offensive production dipped from a season ago, dropping from 6.6 to 5.2 points per game, despite shooting 47.6% from the floor. His playing time decreased in 33 total games (21 starts). He joins former Robert Morris guard Michael Green III on James Madison.
