On Tuesday night, shortly after offering five-star Koa Peat in the 2025 class, Pitt’s basketball staff extended an offer to 2024 four-star VJ Edgecomb out of Glen Head, New York.
Edgecomb is a 6-foot-5 wing out of Long Island Lutheran, a New York hoops powerhouse. This season’s MaxPreps New York Player of the Year, Edgecomb scored 15 points per game, grabbed five rebounds per game, and led his team to a top-five ranking nationally.
Since January, Edgecomb’s recruitment has exploded, as he has added offers from Seton Hall, Ohio State, Wake Forest, Villanova, Miami, Tennessee, Michigan, Indiana, Florida, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State. Alabama, and now Pitt.
The Panthers have offered a handful of prospects in the 2024 class, including wings Darren Harris, Caleb Williams, Dwayne Pierce, Tyler Betsey, Cam Scott, Isaiah Abraham, Jalik Dunkley-Distant, and Isaiah Evans. Pitt has received one commitment in the class, coming from Brandin Cummings, a three-star guard who is the younger brother of former Pitt star Nelly Cummings.
