It’s a big week for Pitt and linebackers from New Jersey.

SirVocea Dennis (Hightstown, New Jersey) officially entered the NFL as he was drafted in the 4th Round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Thursday morning, Pitt received a commitment from a middle linebacker that will lead and be a playmaker for the Panthers defense like Dennis was.

2024 3-star linebacker Davin Brewton from Red Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank, New Jersey has made the decision to commit to Pitt.

Brewton (6’1”, 220-pound) becomes Pitt’s 11th commitment in their Class of 2024 and first from a linebacker.

Brewton was recruited to Pitt by Tiquan Underwood and held offers from Syracuse, Maryland, Northwestern, Marshall and UMass.

Brewton made an unofficial visit to Pitt last year for the Syracuse game and this past January for Junior Day. Following that weekend, he talked to PSN about Dennis and his thoughts on the Pitt program.

“We have a lot in common,” Brewton said. “Not the tallest person ever, but we’re both dawgs. We both find the ball; we both just want to attack. The thing I love about Pitt and the linebacker room is everything is about being physical and just trying to put someone put on the field.

“They showed a lot of things that I love doing, so that was the good part about it.”

Brewton serves as the centerpiece in Red Bank Catholic’s defense, filling the middle linebacker role, and in just five games recorded on MaxPreps, he recorded team-highs in tackles (42), tackles for loss (nine) and sacks (two) and he added a fumble recovery.

As an ‘undersized’ linebacker, he flashes aggression and a nose for the football on every single play, consistently making a bee line for the ball carrier. It’s hard to teach.

Brewton has already scheduled an official visit to Pitt for June and now it’ll be as a Pitt 2024 commit.
