Pitt Sports Communications Department Receives Super 11 Recognition

Published

on

For the fifth time in department history, the Pitt football communications staff received a Super 11 designation from the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) on Thursday. The designation recognizes the top 11 communication staffs in the entire country.

Pitt was one of 11 to receive the award alongside BYU, Clemson, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas State, Navy, Nebraska, South Carolina, UAB, West Virginia and Virginia. TCU head coach Sonny Dykes was also announced as the Super 11 Coach of the Year Award.

E.J. Borghetti leads the Pitt football communications staff. He’s been with the department for 25 years, making him the longest-tenured athletics department member. Each of the football staff’s five Super 11 distinction has come under Borghetti.

Recently though, he’s been instrumental in helping the team grow their brand nationally as the program reaches success not seen since the 1970s. Pitt has won 20 games in the last two years, including the ACC Championship Game in 2022 behind Heisman candidate Kenny Pickett.
