PITTSBURGH – ACC News and Notes surrounded Efton Reid committing to Wake Forest, Clemson landing a recruit and being in the top five for a four-star prospect, and the Fighting Irish landing a class of 2024 player.

Efton Reid III Transfers to Wake Forest

Former Gonzaga center Efton Reid has committed to Wake Forest. Tobias Bass of the Athletic reported Thursday that the 7-footer is ACC bound after originally being a top target for Pitt two years ago. Reid posted 2.1 points and 1.0 rebounds per game during his sophomore campaign for the Zags. The former five-star recruit played his freshman year at LSU before leaving the program. He played considerably more minutes (19.6 compared to 4.7 for Mark Few) and scored over six points per contest. Reid shot 52% from the floor in 34 games with the Tigers.

UNC Greensboro Transfer Bas Leyte Commits to Clemson, 2024 Prospect Dallas Thomas Includes Tigers in Top Five

Grad transfer Bas Leyte is staying in the Carolinas and transferring to Clemson, he told On3 Sports. As a senior, the 6-foot-10 forward started 30 of 32 games for UNC Greensboro. He totaled 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in over 23 minutes.

The 2021-22 campaign was Leyte’s best, averaging career highs in points (9.5) and rebounds (6.0). He crushed Chattanooga in his career, scoring a career-high 23 points as a junior and 16 points his senior year, almost one year apart. The Tigers missed out on the NCAA Tournament after posting a 14-6 conference record.

2024 four-star forward Dallas Thomas told On3 that Clemson is included in his top-five schools. He included the Tigers with LSU, Arkansas, Memphis, and Missouri. Thomas, 6-foot-9, 170 pounds, is from Little Rock, Arkansas, and ranks No. 57 in the country by Rivals.com.

Cole Certa Commits to Notre Dame

According to Joe Tipton, 2024 recruit Cole Certa has committed to Notre Dame. The three-star prospect was recruited by new head coach Micah Shrewsberry while at Penn State and now becomes a member of the Fighting Irish. A 6-foot-4 guard from Bloomington, Illinois, Certa ranks No. 117 by Rivals.com and fifth in the state. He also received offers from Northwestern, Nebraska, Illinois, Butler, and Penn State, among others.
