Pitt HC Verdi and Staff Work To Build Relationship with 2024 Decommit Jillian Jekot

Following the dismissal of head coach Lance White, the Pitt women’s basketball team had a number of players transfer or de-commit.

One of the de-commits was in-state talent Jillian Jekot from Cumberland Valley.

The 2024 6-foot guard originally committed to Pitt back on September 2, a day after making an unofficial visit and attending the Backyard Brawl between Pitt and West Virginia.  The junior chose the Panthers over offers from Penn State, Richmond, Bucknell, La Salle, and others. Since then, Jekot has picked up a new offer from Wake Forest

It appears as though the new Pitt staff is doing their best to get Jekot to reconsider her decision.

On Thursday, Jekot and her family made an unofficial visit to Pitt to meet with new head coach Tory Verdi and his assistants Candice Finely and Ty Margenthaler.

Jekot comes from a talented basketball family, as her sisters Kelly (Penn State/Villanova), Katie (Saint Joseph’s), and Julie (La Salle) all either played or are currently playing Division I hoops.
