Looking At Pitt’s 2024 Quarterback Targets

While recruiting is a year-round job, we are entering the most important time frame for college programs and players.

The month of June is when official visits begin and when we will see a number of players making their verbal commitments.

Pat Narduzzi and his assistants have been busy talking with the players that they’re really serious about, trying to get them to take an official visit to Pitt next month.

When Pitt is able to get players to their campus and facilities for an official visit, history shows that eventually go on to get a commitment from them.

Here’s a look at the number of commitments Pitt has received over the last couple of years in the month of June.

Class of 2023: 10 commitments

Class of 2022: 6 commitments

Class of 2021: 3 commitments

Class of 2020: 10 commitments

Class of 2019: 11 commitments

With Pitt have already having 11 commitments, it’s not likely that they’ll reach approach the numbers they’ve gotten in the past, but they’re likely to add to their Class of 2024 in the upcoming weeks.

Of Pitt’s 11 commitments, here is the position breakdown:
Quarterbacks- 0
Running Backs- 1
Wide Receivers- 1
Tight Ends- 1
Offensive Lineman- 2
Defensive Ends- 2
Defensive Tackles- 2
Linebackers- 1
Defensive Backs- 1

It’s still early to know exactly many players be in their Class of 2024 and although they haven’t signed one yet, you can be sure Pitt will take at least one high school quarterback.

As is the case with every college team, Pitt has extended an offer to a number of 2024 quarterbacks, but the reality is that not all of those offers are committable. While everyone can speculate as to which ones are, the only people that really know who exactly Pitt is pursuing at quarterback are members of the coaching staff.

While this is just a guess, here are the six 2024 quarterbacks that I believe Pitt is truly interested and would take a commitment from.

Tyler Cherry: 4-star recruit from Greenwood, Indiana. Power 5 offers from Pitt, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Penn State, Michigan State and Vanderbilt.

Miles O’Neil: 3-star recruit from Princeton, New Jersey. Power 5 offers from Pitt, Boston College, Maryland, Michigan State and Virginia.

Henry Hasselbeck: 3-star recruit from Westwood, Massachusetts. Power 5 offers from Pitt, Boston College and Georgia Tech.

Drew Devillier: 3-star recruit attends Plano East High School in Plano, Texas. Holds lone Power 5 offer from Pitt.

Trever Jackson: 3-star recruit from Winter Gardens, Florida. Holds Power 5 offers from Pitt, West Virginia, Texas A&M, Penn State, Illinois, Boston College and Indiana.
