ACC News and Notes: QB Brady Allen Commits to Louisville, Ashlynd Barker to Florida State, Tyler Hansbrough Member of National Collegiate Basketball HOF Class of 2023

PITTSBURGH – Tuesday’s ACC News and Notes recap the top news surrounding college football and basketball players who continue to shift programs due to the transfer portal. 

Four-Star QB Brady Allen Commits to Louisville

According to 247Sports writer Jody Demling, four-star transfer quarterback Brady Allen has committed to Louisville. Allen previously played at Purdue and was the No. 165 player in the country by Rivals.com. He was also rated the fifth-best player in Indiana by the recruiting site. Others had Allen placed as a top 40 player. The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder did not see the field at Purdue during his freshman campaign. 

He threw 58 touchdown passes as a senior and was named the MaxPreps Indiana Player of the Year. Allen earned 2021 Indiana Mr. Football honors following his spectacular season entering college. 

JuCo transfer Ashlynd Barker Commits to Florida State Football

Florida State has landed JuCo transfer Ashlynd Barker. Barker previously played for Iowa Western CC and won the 2022 NJCAA National Championship. He is the 28th player added to Florida State’s recruiting class, and according to 247Sports, is expected to enroll as a redshirt freshman. Baker is a 6-foot-3 safety who also heard from Oregon State and Ball State. 

Tyler Hansbrough to be Inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame

North Carolina star Tyle Hansbrough will be enshrined in basketball immortality. Hansbrough will be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2023. He is the only four-time first-team All-American in ACC history and becomes the 14th Carolina player to enter the hall. 

He guided the Tar Heels to two Final Fours and the 2009 NCAA National Championship. Hansbrough scored over 2,700 points and grabbed over 1,200 rebounds. His No. 50 hangs in the rafters at the Dean Smith Center. 

Transfer Linebacker Paul Moala Commits to Georgia Tech

Linebacker Paul Moala announced Tuesday that he has committed to Georgia Tech. Formerly of Idaho and Notre Dame, Moala totaled a career-best 44 tackles, three interceptions and two sacks for the Vandals. He spent his junior year in Idaho and entered the portal in April. He only played 23 games at Notre Dame, playing close to home, and tore his right Achilles on Oct. 10, 2020.
