Pitt Discovers Seeding and Opponents in Pool Play for Upcoming ACC Tournament

Pitt found out their opponents in Pool Play in the upcoming ACC Tournament this week at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C.
Pitt (23-30 overall, 10-18 ACC) earned the No. 12 seed in the tournament. They will take on No. 8 Notre Dame on Wednesday, May 24 at 11 a.m. and then No. 1 Wake Forest on Thursday, May 25 at 11 a.m. as well.
The Panthers have to win both games against the Fighting Irish and the Demon Deacons to make it to the ACC Semifinals. They will also need to win the entire ACC Tournament, if they are to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament, with a below .500 record.
Pitt played Wake Forest and Notre Dame at home this season, taking one game off of each opponent.
They beat Wake Forest 3-0 in the first game of the series, the only team to do shut out Wake Forest this season, and then lost the next two games by a combined 40 runs to just five they scored.
The Panthers lost a close first game against the Fighting Irish, suffered an 11-2 loss the next day and then closed out the series with a 9-5 win.
Pitt needed luck just to make the tournament this week, as they suffered a sweep at the hands of NC State, the third straight season doing so. Louisville, who needed just two wins against a poor Florida State team at home, won only the first game of the series before losing the final two, allowing Pitt to earn the final seed in the tournament.
Despite the poor end to the season, Pitt managed to make the ACC Semifinals last season, defeating both No. 7 Georgia Tech and No. 2 Louisville in Pool Play. They would lose 8-3 to No. 10 NC State in the Semifinals to end their season.
