We knew that Pitt would be taking on Notre Dame on Halloween weekend, but now we know what time it will be.

The final non-conference clash of the 2023 season will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 in South Bend, Indiana. NBC (locally) and Peacock (everywhere else) will be broadcasting the game, with a commentary team to be announced later.

It will be the first meeting between Pitt and Notre Dame since 2020, but also the first half of a rough two-game stretch against Notre Dame and Florida State.

It won’t just be a Halloween weekend showdown and the first meeting since an ill-fated 45-3 loss at Heinz Field in 2020 though, it will be a revenge game for Phil Jurkovec.

Jurkovec, who originally committed to Notre Dame as a high schooler in 2018, transferred away from the Fighting Irish in 2020. It will be his second time facing ND, previously having done so at Boston College in 2020, and his last opportunity to bring home a win.

Pitt heads into the matchup on a three-game losing streak dating back to 2015 — with only one win dating back to 2013: a 28-21 win in 2013.

Pitt is 21-48 all-time against Notre Dame, having played the Fighting Irish since 1930. It’s been skewed in ND’s direction since the inaugural matchup, but there’s no time like the present.

Notre Dame is coming off a 9-4 season in 2022, the first under Marcus Freeman, and the Irish rebounded off an 0-2 start to finish 9-4 — with a win over South Carolina in the Gator Bowl to finish No. 18 in the final AP Poll.

With the Notre Dame matchup decided, all four of Pitt’s 2023 non-conference games have been set on the calendar.

Pitt will open its schedule against Wofford on Sept. 2 and Cincinnati on Sept. 9, both at Acrisure Stadium, before heading to Morgantown for the Backyard Brawl against West Virginia on Sept. 16.
