Pitt’s Class of 2024 recruiting class currently has 11 members and has a team ranking of No. 19 by Rivals.com.But the one position that they’ve yet to receive a commitment from is quarterback.

The Panther coaching staff is working hard to change that with two quarterbacks, two major targets in the class of 2o24, making unofficial visits this week.

Today, three-star Henry Hasselbeck is making another visit to town, while three-star Miles O’Neill was in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

O’Neill is a player in demand as he’s watched his recruitment skyrocket over the past month. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound pro-style quarterback’s offer list includes Pitt, Boston College, Maryland, Michigan State, Penn State, Texas A&M and Virginia.

Pittsburgh Sports Now was able to speak with O’Neill this morning, who gave us his thoughts on the visit as well as plans he’s making for June.

“The visit to Pitt left a great impression on me,” said O’Neill. “I was able to watch them practice for a little bit, then I watched the Steelers’ OTAs, which was super cool. No other college has something like that. The Pitt coaches are all awesome. I left Pitt with a great impression.

“As far as what stood out to me, I was able to see and learn how Coach Cig runs his offense, which is incredible. How he runs a practice and the individual drills that he does with them.”

It’s becoming very apparent that O’Neill is one of a couple of quarterbacks that the Pitt staff is zeroing in on. I asked O’Neill about that, and if he was able to tell from his visit how high he is on Pitt’s wish list.

“Yes, I did very much,” said O’Neill. “It was just a vibe that I got, but they also told me. I had a very long conversation with coach Narduzzi. It was awesome and I think we really connected, and I built a good relationship with him and Coach Cig. They spent a lot of time with me yesterday, which was very cool.

“They told me that they’re only taking one quarterback. They weren’t pressuring me about anything or giving me a timeline (to make a decision). It’s all up to me and whenever I feel comfortable making one.”

The month of June is fast approaching, which means official visits, so I asked O’Neill what’s on his schedule.

“I’m making official visits, and I’m going to try and set one up with Pitt,” O’Neill said. “I have an official visit already locked in with UVA for the first weekend of June. I’m also considering a couple of other options, but I’m not exactly sure yet. Whenever it feels right, I’ll make my college decision.”
