2024 4-Star OL Target Ryan Howerton Making Trip to Pittsburgh For OV

Ryan Howerton is someone that’s been on the radar of the Pitt coaching staff for quite some time.

The 6-foot-5, 319-pound offensive tackle from St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel, Maryland is very familiar with the Pitt program, having already made a few unofficial visits.

In what will be his most important stay, Howerton will return tomorrow for an official visit. The towering lineman is being recruited to Pitt by Andre Powell and Dave Borbely.

Howerton recently was elevated to a four-star recruit by Rivals and holds Power Five offers from Boston College, Maryland, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. This will be Howerton’s third official visit, with the first two being to West Virginia and Maryland.

Following his last visit to Pitt, Howerton talked to PSN about why the Panthers were one of his top schools.

“It’s always been good energy,” Howerton said. “Every time I’ve went, there’s been good energy. It just feels like a good place to be. I’ve never seen any player come back and say they feel bad after, I’ve never seen anybody do anything else, so it’s just good energy all the time. It seems like a good place to grow as more than just an athlete.”

But speaking of athletes, Howerton certainly lives up to his nickname. He may not be as big as ‘The Mountain’ from Game of Thrones, but he’s a load at 6-foot-5, 305 pounds. He’s the resident starting right tackle at St. Vincent Pallotti, and he uses his blend of strength and speed to overwhelm opposing defensive linemen.

The visit from Howerton is yet another 4-star recruit that will be in town: Four-star defensive end Mylachi Williams, four-star wide receiver Dayday Farmer, four-star wide receiver Zy’Marion Lang, four-star defensive end Sincere Edwards and more.
