With the news that rising Aliquippa freshman Larry Moon III is transferring to Central Catholic for his high school career, it just adds another Division I recruit to the roster.
Central Catholic has four Power Five commits in the class of 2024, and there are recruits in the classes of 2025, 2026 and 2027 that have picked up Division I offers or received major interest.
With new head coach Ryan Lehmeier taking over for the legendary Terry Totten, who retired following the 2022 season, there’s an expectation to improve upon a WPIAL Class-6A runner-up finish.
Lehmeier, who was an assistant at Seneca Valley and Pine-Richland, has put together a coaching staff with a wealth of experience.
And recent alumni like John Petrishen, Damar Hamlin, Rodney Thomas, Kurt Hinish, Cal Adomitis, David Green, Elliot Donald and Donovan Hinish all going to the Division I level over the last handful of seasons, the next round of recruits is up.

Anthony Speca — four-star linebacker committed to Penn State, holds offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Colorado, Florida State, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pitt, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Peter Gonzalez — three-star wide receiver committed to Penn State, holds offers from Cincinnati, Iowa State, Miami, Pitt, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Cole Sullivan — three-star athlete committed to Michigan, holds offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Iowa State, Kent State, Miami, Miami (Oh.), Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pitt, Stanford, Temple, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Ty Yuhas — three-star defensive end committed to Pitt, holds offer from Kent State.
Vernon Settles — wide receiver with offers from Akron, Duquesne and Monmouth.
