On Saturday night in Barcelona, Spain, Pitt basketball took home another victory in its second exhibition of the year.
The Panthers faced off against Sant Julia All Stars at 7 p.m. local time, just after 1 p.m. eastern. In the first half, Pitt got off to a slow start, but senior forward Blake Hinson once again handled much of the early scoring for the team. Hinson scored 11 of the team’s 16 first-quarter points as the Panthers trailed 18-16 after one.
Hinson added two more in the second to lead the team with 13 first-half points. He also grabbed five rebounds in the half. In addition, guards in junior Ishmael Leggett and freshman Jaland Lowe each scored seven first-half points to lead the Panthers to a 38-36 halftime lead.
In the second half, the Panthers pulled away behind more hot shooting from Hinson, as well as highlight plays by Austin and Carrington. Austin threw down another poster slam late in the game, and shortly after, Carrington cleaned up a lob off-the-backboard by KJ Marshall for another jam. Pitt came out on top with an 83-66 victory.
