PITTSBURGH — In a season opener against an FCS opponent like Wofford, Pitt would certainly like to get some playing time for as many players as realistically possible.
However, there are freshman considerations and players who may not be quite ready to kick off their seasons.
Pat Narduzzi announced that Jacoby would be out for the remainder of the season after suffering an injury during summer camp, so Jason Collier Jr. has slid into his expected slot at left guard.
Rashad Battle, who has also been out throughout the summer, did not dress today. And Sean FitzSimmons, who did go through warmups and came out dressed, did not go through walkthroughs with the team. So, it appears he will miss the opener.
Ty Dieffenbach, unsurprisingly, is not dressed against Wofford either.
It was one of the healthiest summers Narduzzi has had during his time at Pitt, so the Panthers enter the 2023 season about as healthy as can expected. The goal against Wofford should be the stay that way — and pick up a win, of course.
