It doesn’t seem like Pitt is going to have any noon kickoffs this season.
But Virginia Tech’s Enter Sandman entrance is a solid consolation as Pitt and VT have an announced game time of 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia.
The matchup will be broadcast on ACC Network, with a TV crew to be announced next week, and it will be the third primetime kickoff and fifth non-noon kickoff for Pitt football this season.
It will be an important game for Pitt, one of the ACC matchups that Pitt must-win after a tough game against No. 17 North Carolina and tougher conference games ahead.
Virginia Tech has gotten off to a slow start this season in the second year of head coach Brent Pry, with losses to Purdue (24-17) and Rutgers (35-16), and the Hokies have used two quarterbacks already this season.
VT is an underdog against Marshall this weekend, so that kind of shows a degree of the Hokies’ recent struggles.
Pitt is 11-11 all-time against Virginia Tech, dating back to an inaugural meeting in 1993. VT won the first four matchups and seven of the first eight matchups. The two sides have met every season for the last 11 years, with Pitt winning seven of the 11 matchups. Pitt won 47-14 in 2020, 28-7 in 2021 and 45-29 last season.
The broadcast crew for the ACC Network production will likely be announced next Monday.
Great another prime time beat down for Jerk and crew.
