Pitt LB Bangally Kamara Inactive Against UNC With Injury

Published

on

Pitt football linebacker Bangally Kamara.

PITTSBURGHBangally Kamara did not finish the West Virginia game last weekend, and it appears that Pitt will be without his services tonight, too.

Kamara, who left in the first half of Pitt’s loss to WVU last weekend, is wearing street clothes — with a boot on his right foot — as the Pitt warms up about an hour and a half before kickoff against No. 17 North Carolina.

He’s been an integral part of the Pitt defense this season, recording 14 tackles (six solo), two tackles for loss and a sack in two and a half games this season. He had played every snap against Cincinnati two weeks ago before bowing out early against WVU last weekend.

With Kamara out of the lineup, young players like Kyle Louis, Braylan Lovelace and Nick Lapi should be expected to rotate more heavily. And there’s a good chance Shayne Simon slides to Money and Brandon George slides in as the Mike linebacker as was the case throughout the second half of the WVU game.

It’s not the most ideal loss amongst the Pitt defenders tonight, but it is an opportunity for the young linebackers to take a step in their development against a very good UNC offense.

Hope it’s not a serious injury or hope he’s not the first one to jump off the sinking ship that Jerkovic is sailing.
