Montour Forward Ama Tening Sow Receiving Interest from Local Colleges

One of the WPIAL’s brightest young bigs is starting to receive more and more recruiting attention as his junior year kicks off.

Montour forward Ama Tening Sow told Pittsburgh Sports Now that coaches from Duquesne and Pitt were in to watch him play over the past few days, showing interest in his talents.

The 6-foot-9 forward also heard from Seton Hall and Iowa earlier this summer, when 2025 prospects were first allowed to directly speak with coaches at the college level.

“Ama is a high-upside prospect, live-body athlete in the 6’8-6’9 range,” his coach Tom Droney told PSN. “His best asset right now is his ability to track the ball and rebound it on both ends of the floor. He has shown the ability to move his feet when switched onto perimeter players and he thrives as a weak-side shot blocker. Has range that is starting to extend consistently to the perimeter with good mechanics. Can put the ball on the floor a little bit going straight line, but he thrives best right now as a pick and roll lob threat or dunker spot for easy buckets at the basket. Dealt with some lingering injuries this past summer but his best basketball is ahead of him for sure.”

If he wants competent coaching he’ll choose the Dukes over Pitt
