The offers to wide receivers in the transfer portal continue to roll in for Pitt football.

Tiquan Underwood has been very busy since the portal officially opened up on Monday, extending offers and making home visits, and that continued Friday. Ohio graduate wideout Miles Cross was one receiver to pick up an offer.

Cross — a 6-foot-1, 195-pound receiver from Olney, Md. — graduated from Ohio and will spend his fourth and final season of eligibility away from Athens, Oh.

He’s received offers from FAU, USF, Georgia State, Western Michigan, Miami (Oh.), Pitt and Indiana since he announced his intentions to hit the portal last month.

Cross wasn’t a top recruit in the class of 2021, barely rated as a top-300 wide receiver by 247Sports, but he chose the Bobcats over a solid list of Group of Five and FCS programs.

He played in a lot of games during his collegiate career, emerging as a starting wideout in 2022 and breaking out in 2023.

Cross hauled in 47 receptions for 617 yards (13.1 yards per reception) and five touchdowns last season. He led the ‘Cats in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

According to PFF, he was almost purely an outside receiver last season, and he racked up a team-high 214 yards after catch (4.6 YAC/routes run), made contested catches at an elite rate (9-of-16 targets) and dropped just four passes in 79 targets.

He wasn’t much of a deep threat in 2023, hauling in just 4-of-13 targets at least 20 yards downfield, but he operated effectively in the short and intermediate phases — 455 yards and two touchdowns.

He will have one season of eligibility remaining at his next location.

Bub Means is gone now, and it appears that Underwood is once again looking to add to the room if possible.

Pitt has lost Means and Addison Copeland III, who decided to enter the transfer portal himself, and there’s a slim group of proven returners in 2024. Konata Mumpfield and Daejon Reynolds have legitimate experience, Kenny Johnson showed extreme promise as a true freshman and that’s the extent of proven talent.

Izzy Polk caught a few balls as a true freshman, and Zion Fowler-El and Lamar Seymore have received a ton of hype since arriving. Jake McConnachie and Che Nwabuko are also in the mix.

Underwood has extended offers to a number of wide receivers already in the transfer portal, too.
