Pitt Baseball Reveals Action-Packed 2024 Schedule

Pitt baseball revealed their 2024 schedule Monday afternoon, which features great non-conference opponents and familiar ACC foes, who will also pose as great challenges this upcoming season.
The Panthers finished 24-31 last season, 7-15 in the ACC and lost in the ACC Tournament in Group Play. Head coach Mike Bell has almost an entirely new team with 15 transfers out and plenty coming in, along with almost an entirely new coaching staff. Bell has not made the NCAA Tournament since he has arrived ahead of the 2019 season and the Panthers as a program haven’t made it since 1995.
Pitt will open up their season like they did last year, facing off against Maine in Florida, from Feb. 16-18. The only difference is the location, with this season’s series at Centennial Park in Port Charlotte instead of the Ed Smith Complex in Sarasota.
The Kleberg Bank College Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas will feature three teams that Pitt will face over a four-day stretch. This includes Washington on Friday, Feb. 23, Maryland on Saturday, Feb. 24 and then Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on both Sunday, Feb. 25 and Monday, Feb. 26.
This series for the Panthers will feature matchups for the first time against both the Huskies and the Islanders. The Terrapins game represents the first meeting between the two programs since the Terrapins swept Pitt in May 2014, the sole season both teams were in the ACC together.
Pitt will open up the season at Charles L. Cost Field against Youngstown State on Wednesday, Feb. 28 before traveling west to play in the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic at Las Vegas Ballpark. They’ll take on Oklahoma on Friday, March 1, Ohio State on Saturday, March 2 and then future ACC foe Cal on Sunday, March 3.
The Panthers hold 3-21 record against the Buckeyes but did defeat them back in their last meeting in 2022. The Panthers swept the Golden Bears last season in three games at home, which served as their first game against each other since the Panthers won 9-4 in the 1995 NCAA Tournament. This will serve as the first game ever between the Panthers and the Sooners.
Pitt baseball will also participate in the Backyard Brawl and Keystone Classic in 2023. They play rival West Virginia twice, in Morgantown on Tuesday, April 16 and at home on Tuesday, April 30. Pitt also plays rival Penn State twice, in University Park, Pa. on Wednesday, March 27 and at home on Tuesday, May 12. Unlike the past two seasons, there is no PNC Park game between either team scheduled.
Pitt baseball will host other non-conference opponents in St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, March 6, Akron on Tuesday, March 12, Bucknell on Wednesday, March 13, Wright State on May 8 and then Bryant for a three-games series April 26-28. The series against Bryant is the first time that Pitt will face off against them. Pitt also has two games against Kent State, with the home game on Tuesday, March 19 and the away game on Tuesday, April 9. They also face Youngstown State on the road on Tuesday, April 2.
The ACC brings five series to Pittsburgh in the spring. This includes Boston College from March 15-17, Virginia from March 22-24, Georgia Tech from April 5-7, Duke from April 12-14 and Florida State May 10-12. Pitt will travel to face North Carolina from March 8-10, Virginia Tech from March 28-30, Clemson from April 19-21, Notre Dame from May 3-5 and Miami to close out the regular season, May 16-18.
The ACC Tournament will take place May 21-26, with no defined site yet.
