Jon Baldwin didn’t play at Pitt all that long ago, starring in Pittsburgh in the late 2000s and early 2010s, but his son isn’t that far away from living his own football dream. And it might just be at Pitt.
Pitt offered Jon’s son Jaden — a 6-foot, 160-pound wide receiver from Basha High in Chandler, Az. in the class of 2027 — Sunday night.

It’s the third offer that the younger Baldwin has received in his very brief high school career, with the Panthers joining Indiana and Penn State in pursuing the talented young wideout.
Jaden picked up the offer from Chris LaSala, who is an Aliquippa man like his father, but he’s being recruited by Pat Narduzzi and Tiquan Underwood early in his recruiting process.
As a recruit in the class of ’27, the recruiting chase is just getting underway for Jaden, but he’s a Pitt legacy that will be watched closely.
Jon, who starred on the court and on the field at Aliquippa, stayed home at Pitt and developed into one of the best wide receivers in college football over his three years as a Panther.
He broke out as an All-Big East and All-American wide receiver in 2009, hauling in 57 passes for 1,111 yards (19.5 yards per reception) and eight touchdowns, and he finished his Pitt career with 128 receptions for 2,337 yards (18.3 yards per reception) and 16 touchdowns.
As it stands, Jon is eighth all-time in receiving yards (with the seventh-best single season) in program history. It will be tough to follow an All-Conference wide receiver selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. But Jaden has had a good start to his high school career.
Baldwin was extremely productive at Basha as a true freshman, racking up 20 receptions for 529 yards ( yards per reception) and 11 touchdowns on the ‘freshman’ squad.
The major recruiting sites have not ranked recruits in the class of ’27 yet, with attention still largely on the class of 2024 and 2025, but it appears likely that Baldwin will be one of the top-ranked recruits in the class of 2027.
Pitt, obviously, hasn’t landed any recruits that far ahead — with only a few offers even extended that far ahead — but Baldwin will be someone to keep an eye on in the years to come.
