On Tuesday night, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) will release its basketball schedules for both men's and women's basketball.

On Wednesday night, Pitt head coach Jeff Capel is out watching some local high-school talent, including one of Pitt’s signees in the 2024 class.

According to the Beaver County Times’ Ethan Morrison, Capel is watching Lincoln Park play in a game against North Catholic at PPG Paints Arena. The game is being played as part of the Pittsburgh Holiday Hoops Classic. PSN has confirmed that Capel is in attendance.

Pitt signee Brandin Cummings is playing for Lincoln Park, along with five-star junior Meleek Thomas. Cummings officially signed with the Panthers on November 9. The guard is ranked as the No. 126 player in the class of 2024 according to 247 Sports’ Composite rankings. He chose Pitt over Creighton, South Carolina, and other programs that had offered him. He is the younger brother of former Pitt point guard Nelly Cummings. Thomas is the No. 9 overall player in the class of 2025, and the No. 1 overall combo guard in the country, per 247. In September, Thomas dropped a top-12 list that featured the Panthers along with some blue blood programs: Pitt, Kansas State, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, Auburn, Tennessee, UConn, Michigan, Miami, and Villanova.

In November, both Cummings and Thomas attended Pitt’s win over Jacksonville.
