Pitt Wrestling continues to recruit the WPIAL with intent, as they landed Franklin Regional Class of 2024 heavyweight Julian Marion.
Marion committed to the program last Wednesday on his Instagram, writing, “Had to run back the panther for the #next4🔵🟡!!”
Pitt wrestling coverage on Pittsburgh Sports Now is sponsored by the Pittsburgh Wrestling Club.
Marion wrestled at 189 pounds his first three years of high school, with an 89-26 record. He finished 37-10 overall as a sophomore in the 2021-22 season, finishing first in his section, fourth in the WPIAL and sixth in the PIAA. Marion went 29-7 overall as a junior in the 2022-23 season, finishing second in his section and third in the WPIAL, but did not wrestle at state championships.
He has continued to excel as a senior, with a 26-5 record, including 16 falls, while wrestling at both 215 and 285 pounds, . He has only lost twice in WPIAL competition, to Cornell commit Jake Conroy of Ringgold at 215 pounds in a 6-4 decision and to Mt. Pleasant’s Dylan Pitzer, brother of Pitt wrestling heavyweight Dayton Pitzer, in a 7-2 decision at 285 pounds.
