This hasn’t been the best week for the Winning Picks, going 1-2 again last night. The Knicks were our only win, covering against the Jazz. North Carolina could not cover and lost to Georgia Tech on the road. The over failed to cover in Kraken/Sharks as well. We moved to 125-94-3 on the year.
One of the favorite bets for most people when betting the Super Bowl, believe it or not, is the coin toss. Most of the time we do not get to see the coin toss on a live NFL telecast unless the game goes to overtime. But for the Super Bowl, it’s front and center spectacular.
Some people like to be tails because “tails never fails.” Others like to bet heads. Either way, if you don’t get these bets as close to even money as possible, I believe they can be a waste. If you want to bet this novelty prop, make sure you are getting even money or plus money.
Now time for the Winning Picks!
Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Pitt Panthers (-1.5) O/U 144.5 7:00 PM on ACC Network
The Pitt Panthers continue to try and dig out of the hole they are in and capture their first ACC home win as they play host to the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest. The Deacons have been praised for their play on the defensive end this year but were exposed in their loss to the Tar Heels last week. Can Pitt take advantage?
If Pitt really wants to make it back to the NCAA Tournament this year, they need to win coin flip games like tonight. Wake Forest is a good defensive team, but they are beatable on the road. I believe the Panthers get their first ACC win at home this season and cover against the Demon Deacons.

Chicago St Cougars at Duquesne Dukes (-12.5) O/U 136.5 7:00 PM on ESPN+/SportsNet Pittsburgh
The Chicago St Cougars made an appearance on our first ever edition of the Winning Picks and they will finally make it back as they face the Duquesne Dukes in a non-conference matchup. It is very odd to have a non-conference outing this late in the season but that is business as usual for the Cougars as they are the rare independent team in college basketball.
In recent games, the Dukes have gotten back to that strong defensive style of game that Keith Dambrot promised would be the foundation of this program when he took over. With it seemingly back and the Duquesne offense probably not as charged up as in A-10 play, I like the under tonight at the Cooper Fieldhouse.

Phoenix Suns (-3.5) at Brooklyn Nets O/U 232.5 8:30 PM on ABC
These new ABC Wednesday night NBA games are strange to me. Seems like they just came out of nowhere this year. They have had some marquee matchups like they have tonight as Kevin Durant returns with the Suns to face his old team the Brooklyn Nets.
The Durant/Nets marriage ended on a sour note. While Durant didn’t help himself, the Nets wasted a Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden led team on a coach that was overmatched from the beginning in Steve Nash. I really don’t think any of them truly listen to him despite Nash being a Hall of Famer.
As for his return tonight, I like the Durant led Suns to win and cover Brooklyn.
