Duquesne Basketball
Twitter Reaction- Duquesne Basketball Is Going Dancing In the NCAA Tournament!

To borrow a phrase from the great Al Michaels, ‘Do You Believe in Miracles!”
Some people though that this day would never come but it has. For the first time since 1977, the Duquesne Men’s Basketball Team will be playing in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Head coach Keith Dambrot left the Akron Zips basketball program 7 years with the goal of restoring his father’s former program to glory and get them back to the tournament.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
In today’s Atlantic 10 basketball finals, Duquesne led from the start and defeated VCU, 57-51.
They’ll be partying on “The Bluff” tonight!!
Keith Dambrot just coached Duquesne to an Atlantic 10 title and first NCAA bid in 47 years; amazing accomplishment for a program of limited resources.
His most famous work remains winning two state titles at Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary with a young (FR-SO) LeBron James. pic.twitter.com/zrHQrnKnfN

There won’t be a better Pittsburgh sports story this year — maybe this decade — than @DuqMBB going to #NCAATournament
Happy for everybody associated with university.

I will tell you @DuqMBB was my first real college basketball beat. That first step, decades ago, led me to here. I’ll admit it’s pretty cool to see the Dukes back in @MarchMadnessMBB for the first time since I was in high school. Congrats to Coach Dambrot and his guys.

Congratulations Coach Dambrot and @DuqMBB. Good luck in the tourney.

I know this won’t be popular with many of my fellow Pitt fans, but am really HAPPY for Duquesne.
First NCAA Tournament appearance in 46 years. Dambrot and the team earned this.

GO DUKES!!!!
Duquesne – and Keith Dambrot – are one of the best stories in the NCAA Tournament.
I don’t know how you don’t feel good for Duquesne, their fans and this dream story of Dambrot coming to Duquesne to get to the NCAA Tournament for his dad. Unreal pic.twitter.com/3nlrUybNoW

And Jake DiMichele might have made the biggest shot of the game. #DaRocks

Good for Duquesne and good for Keith Dambrot.
Dambrot is as easy a coach to root for as you’ll find.

Duquesne advances to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1977!
What was the world like the last time Duquesne played in March Madness?
– Star Wars hit theaters
– Al McGuire led Marquette to the national title
– Tom Petty released "American Girl" https://t.co/VopAyG055M— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) March 17, 2024
The weight of history can be heavy as a (bleep).
Duquesne just shrugged off 47 years of it.
Well done.
March remains the best.

YESSIRRR!! Punch that 🎟️ to the Big Dance @DuqMBB!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Love you Coach Dambrot & @CoachDruJoyce 🤎🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
— LeBron James (@KingJames) March 17, 2024
Keith Dambrot coached @KingJames back in high school at SVSM.
He took Akron to the NCAA tourney 3 times – 2009, 2011 and 2013.
More than a decade later, the 65-year-old Dambrot has now led Duquesne to its first NCAA tourney appearance in FORTY SEVEN YEARS!!
— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanHoops) March 17, 2024
Duquesne lost its first five games in the Atlantic 10. It was 9-8 overall on Jan. 20.
They've gone 15-3 since then, including four wins in five days for the A-10 tournament title — and Keith Dambrot has the Dukes dancing for the first time since 1977.
MADNESS!
