Transfer Forward Mikeal Brown-Jones Includes Pitt in Top Three

On Friday, Pitt found out some more good news on the recruiting front, as UNC Greensboro transfer forward Mikeal Brown-Jones included the Panthers in his top three schools list.

Brown-Jones is a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who averaged 18.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a senior for UNCG. He also included Ole Miss and Kansas State in his top three.

He began his career at VCU, playing for the Rams from 2020-22 and starting two games. He then transferred to UNCG, seeing his role increase immediately. He finally earned a big starting role as a senior and his production exploded. In 28 starts, Brown-Jones played just over 28 minutes per game, shot 54% from the field, 43% from three-point range (on just 58 attempts), and 79% from the free-throw line.

Pitt is looking to fill forward spots left behind by Blake Hinson, Will Jeffress, and Federiko Federiko. Jeffress and Federiko entered the transfer portal in March, and Hinson is out of eligibility and moving on to a professional career.

The Panthers have missed out on two transfer targets so far, as the staff scheduled visits with Brandon Huntley Hatfield and Brandon Johnson, but both have now committed elsewhere before their trips to Pittsburgh. Johnson committed to Miami shortly after visiting the Hurricanes, and Huntley-Hatfield committed to NC State on Thursday.
