Pitt Hosting Versatile 2025 Athlete on Official Visit

Pitt defensive end target Julian Anderson.

Julian “JuJu” Anderson decided to bet on himself, and it’s already paying off.

Anderson — a 6-foot-4, 215-pound athlete from Blair Academy in New Jersey — reclassified to the class of 2025 in February, and he’s received offers from Appalachian State, Boston College, Bryant, Central Michigan, Duke, Lafayette, Pitt, Syracuse, UConn, West Virginia and Western Kentucky.

Pitt is one of the most recent offers, just last week, but it’s a relationship that’s already progressed to an official visit from June 20-22.

Tim Daoust officially extended Anderson an offer on April 25, and he’s been recruited by Daoust and Ryan Manalac since. It’s still a new relationship, but the early returns are encouraging.

Anderson did a little bit of everything for First Academy in Orlando, Fla. as a senior, serving as the leading receiver (51 receptions for 788 yards and 11 touchdowns) and leading pass rusher (45 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, seven forced fumbles and an interception).

With a long, athletic frame that should be able to pack on additional muscle, Anderson has a lot of intrigue as an edge rusher. He was perhaps the best athlete on the field at First Academy, on either side of the ball, and he looks like a good fit in the Panthers defense.

Anderson has not been rated by the major recruiting services (247Sports, Rivals or On3), but as his recruiting process continues this summer, that will change.

Pitt is currently his only official visit on the schedule, and it will likely be his only visit to Pittsburgh before he announces his commitment. The Panthers like to lock down official visitors before they leave the city, so it will obviously be an important weekend in terms of solidifying what appears to be a rapidly growing relationship.

Pitt currently holds three commitments in the class of 2025, three-star wide receiver Bryce Yates (Chesterfield, Va.), three-star defensive lineman Trevor Sommers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and three-star quarterback Mason Heintschel (Oregon, Ohio), and it’s not unlikely that a couple more soon join the class this spring.
