Pitt Freshman Brandin Cummings Officially Signs with Alliance 412

For the second time in three years, Pitt’s NIL collective Alliance 412 has signed a player with the last name Cummings to a deal.

Brandin Cummings, the younger brother of former Panther guard Nelly Cummings, officially signed a deal with Alliance 412 on Thursday, per the collective. Cummings is entering his freshman year at Pitt after starring at nearby Lincoln Park for the past few years alongside five-star prospect Meleek Thomas.

Cummings is a 6-foot-3 guard who chose Pitt over offers from Creighton, South Carolina, and others. The guard is ranked as a three star on 247 Sports’ rankings, coming in around No. 145 in the nation.

β€œI love Pitt,” Cummings told PSN in February. β€œI’ve been a huge Pitt guy for obviously the last two years. I can’t wait to get up there. Those guys are already like my brothers. I’m already close with everybody up there.”

Cummings was elevated to a four-star recruit on ESPN and Rivals, marking the second year in a row that Jeff Capel has brought in a four-star guard from the high school level.

Pitt returns guards Jaland Lowe and Ish Leggett for the 2024-25 season, and has since brought in Houston transfer guard Damian Dunn through the portal along with forward Cam Corhen from Florida State.

Brandon is going to play his freshman year. Pitt has a very good roster, but many people just don’t what a dynamic player this guy is.

He may play. But, they won’t have to force it if they don’t think he’s ready. The guard rotation is already pretty good. That said, I believe Dunn can be a “swing” if necessary and open up some room for him.

No, they won’t force anything, but giving some experience is a primary goal for the future. If he really shows out, he will earn significant minutes. Coach Capel, to his credit, is not hesitant in playing freshman. We saw that last season.

β€œVery good roster” may be stretching things a little bit.

Yes, it’s an excellent roster, but two freshmen were stars last season.
